This year’s major travel adventure was a girls’ trip to coastal Oregon! Backstory: earlier this year, my mom, sister, and I were taking a walk and talking about upcoming family events, namely my brother’s wedding and our 30th birthday. (Leighann and I are twins.) We tossed around the idea of taking a trip, just us girls, after the wedding to celebrate our birthday. Surprisingly, the three of us had never traveled “just us” before. Leighann loves trip-planning and she arranged most of the itinerary, after discussions with me about top goals and sights.

After flying into Portland in the evening and picking up or rental care the next day, we began our journey on the Historic Columbia River Highway. Our hotel shuttle driver recommended it the night before and we loved this drive!

Our next stop was Multnomah Falls. The autumn season made this spot feel right out of Rivendell in The Lord of the Rings. We visited in the late morning on a Saturday, so this area was very crowded; I’d recommend planning your visit for a less popular time of day.

Next we drove a couple hours west to our Airbnb in the Netarts/Tillamook area. The Pacific was just a 2 minute walk from our room (!!!) so we took a stroll to the beach before a grocery run and a quiet night in.
